Select Hiking Trails Hungary

This site is designed to provide quick, organized access to informative hiking websites on Hungary. Hiking enthusiasts like you have created excellent web pages on hiking trails in Hungary -- then posted those pages on free web servers -- only to be ignored by search engines. The purpose of this site is to provide a way to find these personal hiking pages, and make your research easier.

  • Countrywide Blue Tour The "Blue Tour" is the Hungarian section of the European Long Distance Path E4. In Hungary, the Blue Tour is comparable to the Appalachian Trail in the USA. Nearly every Hungarian is familiar with it, and completion of the Blue Tour is rite of passage for Hungarian hikers. This route is more than 1000 km and tours the entire country. There are 147 "checkpoints," and the goal is to collect the stamps of all checkpoints in your personal completion brochure. This website is the story of Béla Horváth, who has so far spent two years hiking the Blue Tour with his son. Horváth has kept thorough records, and documented their journeys with some terrific photos. The link above is to the Hungarian language version, and is complete with maps and all sorts of information. Really an impressive website! The English Version is under construction, and certainly has enough information even at this point (November 2006) to give you an excellent understanding of this undertaking.

There is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps, for the rest of our lives, we will be unwilling to settle for less.
